Ayrshire Boys Matchplay Championship

The Ayrshire Boy's Matchplay Championship is contested by the players returning the best eight scratch aggregate scores in the Ayrshire Boy's Strokeplay Championship each year.

The Championship was first established in 1988  but was discontinued in 1998.

The Matchplay Championship was reintroduced in 2003 and a new trophy, to mark the Golden Jubilee of the Ayrshire Boy's Championship in 2002 was presented by South Ayrshire Provost Elizabeth Foulkes, was introduced for competition. Since the championship was reintroduced in 2003, prestwick Golf Club have hosted the event every year.
